Cern first website

While working at CERN, Tim Berners-Lee designed the World Wide Web to help researchers share information across different computers and institutions. His 1989 proposal, Information Management: A Proposal, described the problem of losing information and proposed a distributed hypertext system to address it.

As part of the project, he created the first web server, web browser/editor, and website. This website, first published in December 1990, introduced the Web and explained how to access it and create new pages.

In 1993, CERN released the software into the public domain, allowing anyone to use it freely.
